Head wasn’t picked for the 2016 World T20 but since then, managed to be in the selectors’ plans. In 50-overs cricket, Head started to become a vital cog of the Australian side. He has donned multiple roles with the bat – mostly batting in the middle order but also opened the innings in early 2017 as a part of the management’s plan for the Champions Trophy that was to be held later that year. His debut as an opener saw him cracking a century and also being involved in a historical opening stand with David Warner who also got past the three-figure mark. That experiment didn’t last long though and Head started getting back to his middle order routine, used mostly as a floater. Head however lost out on batting form in the 50-over format and was ignored for the 2019 WC as others in the form of Shaun Marsh and Marcus Stoinis were preferred over him.

Born in Singapore to Australian parents, Tim David spent most of his formative years in Perth after moving back to Australia at the age of two. Growing up, David was no stranger to cricket. His father, Rod, represented Singapore in the 1997 ICC Trophy.
Like his father, Tim David’s international career started with Singapore too when he represented them in the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup qualifiers. However, fast forward to 2022 and David had switched allegiances to Australia and he made his Australia debut in a T20I against India in 2022.
Making a name for himself as a hard-hitting middle-order batter who could also bowl both useful seam-up and off-spin, David quickly found himself in demand for T20 Leagues around the globe. His first assignment came for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League 2018/19 and he went on to play in the PSL, the CPL, The Hundred, the IPL, the SA20 and most recently, Major League Cricket

Profile
A hard-hitting batsman and a wicket-keeper, Jos Buttler quickly built up a reputation for demolishing bowling attacks. His introduction to competitive cricket came at an early age and he represented Somerset’s youth teams at the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 levels. He was a prolific run-scorer in school and junior cricket, and his consistent batting helped him come through the ranks quickly. He soon represented Somerset’s second XI and was seen as a good prospect for the shorter formats.
His First-Class debut came in the 2009 season when he replaced the injured Justin Langer. Though he failed to seal his spot in the First-Class side, his performances in the other formats earned him a call-up to the Somerset limited overs squad. With regular wicket-keeper-batsman Craig Kieswetter selected to play for England, Buttler got an extended run in the Somerset team and he made the most of it, where he scored 440 runs at an average of 55 in the CB40 series. His terrific form and ability saw him retain his spot in the eleven even after the return of Kieswetter to the Somerset line-up.

With the Sehwag-esque ability to enthrall as well as exasperate, Glenn Maxwell blurred the line copy-book and agricultural, pulling off unorthodoxy with ease and fluency. Making use of his athleticism and quick responses, Maxwell revolutionized the modern limited-overs game with the ability to let his instincts guide his responses to the ball. The twist is that the said response may not necessarily be a shot that has ever been witnessed on a cricket field.
A fielding captain’s nightmare, the Big Show pulls off the shots of our wildest dreams with utmost swagger and gusto. Audio and text commentators’ jobs hang by a fickle thread as he pulls off some indescribable shots. And yet, when he fails to pull ’em off, our hearts sink; the day wouldn’t be as exciting as it could have been if Maxwell got going.

Mitchell Marsh is the younger brother of Australian batter Shaun Marsh and the son of Australia’s former opener, Geoff Marsh. Unlike his father and elder brother, Mitchell has worked on the art of fast bowling. He classifies as a hard-hitting all-rounder who bats in the middle-order. He started playing competitive cricket at the age of 17 and plays for Western Australia in the domestic circuit. Marsh found success early in his career. He was appointed Australia’s U19 captain and he led his team to victory in the 2010 U19 World Cup. Marsh’s personal best in that series was a match-winning 97 in the semi-final against Sri Lanka. Even before he made his senior international debut, he was roped in by the IPL side Deccan Chargers in 2010. He eventually went on to play for his country against South Africa in a T20I at Wanderers in 2011

Cricket literally runs in his blood. The third generation around – his grandfather being a First Class cricketer for Rhodesia, his father being a national cricketer for Zimbabwe – Sam Curran is one of the many white African cricketers of this decade to have moved out of his traditional roots and to have relocated in the United Kingdom to ply his trade.
A diminutive, mild-looking left-arm seamer whose natural angle helps him swing the Dukes away from right-handers, he doubles up as an able batsman lower down the order; and given the ease at which he looks with bat in hand, it could soon become his primary skill.

Liam Livingstone is a right-handed aggressive batsman from England, who is more than handy with his arm and a livewire on the field. Liam made his first-class debut for Lancashire in April 2016 and played a fantastic knock of 70 against Nottinghamshire. As a result of Livingstone’s contribution in that match, Lancashire managed to topple the 300-run mark against Nottinghamshire and managed to win that first-class encounter by 8 wickets at Manchester.
Livingstone is someone who has the ability to hit big sixes and he has played franchise cricket over the past few years. His international debut came against South Africa in 2017 at home. Batting in the middle order, Liam’s contributions in that T20I series were 16 & 0 respectively after which the youngster failed to make it to the England squad. It took until 2021 for Livingstone to stage a comeback to the national setup, as he got a break thanks to an injury to Joe Denly. He made his debut in 2021 in an ODI series against India, averaging 63 across that series.

Mitchell Starc – a name that strikes fear into the hearts of contemporary batsmen. It is hard to fathom that the tall and skinny lad from Sydney, who was once an aspiring wicketkeeper in junior cricket, would one day become the most menacing sight for the world’s best batsmen.
Legend has it that a tall, lanky 14-year-old was spotted by a club coach trying out as a wicketkeeper for the Western Suburbs. He pulled the young man aside and demanded that he ditch the wicketkeeping mitts – and that he would teach him how to bowl. The AFL’s fabled method of scouting a body-type and building a particular skill around it seemed to be at work again, as it tends to work in favour of the player’s ability and aptitude.
It is a tried and tested method. Case in point: three decades ago, Dennis Lillee, then in charge of the MRF pace foundation, told a 14-year-old Indian boy of short stature that he couldn’t be a fast bowler. Following the incident, the aspiring fast bowler changed lanes and took up batting. We all know how that turned out…

It won’t be wrong to define Josh Hazlewood as the modern day adaptation of the legendary Glenn McGrath. The similarity isn’t hard to make out – smooth run up to the crease with the intention being accuracy more than raw pace. The agenda would more often than not be an unerring fourth or fifth stump line with a bit of swing or seam to boot. Almost the classical fast bowler. Although not in the league of McGrath yet, there is no doubt that Hazlewood would be among the best pacers to have graced the game by the time he hangs up his boots
Such was Hazlewood’s talent from his early years that he landed a First-class debut at the age of 17 in the 2008-09 season, making him the youngest fast bowler ever to play for New South Wales. Gradually, he got initiated into the other formats in the domestic circuit and also got a surprise ODI debut in 2010 although it took another three years for him to play another 50-over game. Being young and raw,
